As at 8pm, Monday, 23 March 2020, an additional 25 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since our update yesterday.

This brings the total number of Hunter New England confirmed cases to 72.

Please see the below image for full details.

Numbers differ from yesterday in community transmission down from 8 to 4 we are seeking clarification on this.

The numbers are growing very fast so we are going to do some modelling based on the current trends of the numbers doubling every 48 hours as a worst case scenario over the next week. The new shut down and travel measure we won’t see the impact of this for about 2 weeks.

Worst Case Scenario numbers double every 48 hours.

As you can see the numbers can spike rapidly over a very short period of time and this is what our health experts are worried about, once the hospitals become overrun that’s when we start to see massive spikes in the number of deaths from COVID-19. Health officials are doing everything they can do in these testing times.

Remember if you need to visit a doctor of hospital expect delays and be very patient everyone is doing there best, please remain calm, causing a scene will only result in longer delays.
